What is the best pillow for me?

A pillow ensures that your neck and head are well supported at night. There are many types of pillows, and the choice goes beyond a thin or a thick pillow. However, this certainly doesn't make choosing any easier.

Tips to choose the right pillow

There are a few things to consider when choosing the right pillow for you:

  • Which position do you sleep in?
  • Which mattress do you sleep on?
  • Do you have neck or back problems?
  • What temperature do you like in your room?
  • What are your personal preferences?

Read our tips below to find the best pillow for your needs!

1. Your sleep position

Do you sleep on your back, your side or your stomach? Your sleep position helps determine the type of support you need. As a general rule, your head and neck vertebrae should always be in line with your spine as much as possible.

2. Hard or soft mattress?

The hardness of the mattress and therefore the depth with which your shoulders sink into it also play a role when choosing your pillow. If you sleep on a soft mattress, your shoulders sink in deeper and you should choose a lower pillow. The opposite happens when you sleep on a firmer mattress. When making your choice, also take into account whether or not you sleep on a mattress topper!

3. Neck or back problems?

Neck or back problems can have all kinds of causes, but if your neck hurts, you pillow could also be the culprit. A pillow that is too high, too low or worn out will not give you the support you need. So always make sure that your pillow supports your neck well and fills the hollow gap between your head, neck and shoulder.

We recommend an ergonomic pillow for people who suffer from neck pain. These pillows against neck pain can relieve your issues and guarantee a better night's sleep.

4. Do you tend to get too hot at night?

Do you tend to get too hot at night? Then make sure not to opt for a visco-elastic pillow. This type of pillow retains heat well, so it creates more moisture and feels warmer.

5. Your personal preferences

But at the end of the day, the most important question remains, what do you like? One person cannot miss the cosiness of a down pillow, while another prefers firm support.

There are pillows with natural or synthetic filling, memory foam, latex or Geltex pillows. Each type feels different.
